how we use Data and why?
Using MAP, PSAT and SAT assessment data, the curriculum office and teachers analyse the information gained to guide curriculum design and teaching. The curriculum coordinator uses the data to adjust the curriculum based on the current cohort results. The teachers can plan their instruction knowing the areas of strength and areas for development, and allows teachers to see where individual students strengths are and if help is needed in any specific area. MAP is used in Grades 3-9, PSAT Grades 10 and 11 and SAT in Grades 11 and 12. The MAP, PSAT and SAT tests reading, language usage and mathematics targeting the following skills:
Word Analysis and Vocabulary,Literal Comprehension, interpretive Comprehension, Evaluative Comprehension, Literature Response / Analysis
Writing Process, Composition Structure, Grammar: Usage, Punctuation, Capitlaisation
Computation, Number Sense and Numeration, Geometry, Measurement, Statistics and Probability, Algebraic Concepts, Problem Solving

Jane completed her academic career at AISK in May 2014 by successfully earning the IB Diploma.
AISK challenges its students with a rich curriculum and rigorous assessment. As we see in the last 5 years of the academic life of our 2014 graduate, our students are very much up to the challenge. Presently, Jane is studying at one of the finest universities in the United States.
How has AISK used Jane Champion’s data?
AISK monitors student achievement patterns, such as that exhibited by Jane, then makes curricular adjustments. The school organized greater test preparation for the PSAT as this is the first step in the college test preparation sequence. Math scores were targeted for improvement by hiring highly credentialed staff, ordering best practice instructional resources, and analyzing specific math concepts where AISK could improve.
