Early Years Program
Active Start
Students are introduced to relatively unstructured play that incorporates a variety of body movements. Early Active Start develops brain function, coordination, gross motor skills, emotions, leadership and imagination. It also helps children build confidence, develop posture and balance, build strong bones and muscles, promote healthy weight, reduce stress, improve sleep, learn to move skillfully and learn to enjoy being active. The ultimate objectives at this stage are to learn fundamental movements and link them together into play.
Elementary School
FUNdimentals
Students participate in a variety of well-structured activities in challenging environments that develop basic skills. However, activities maintain a focus on fun and minimal formal competition. It is during this critical stage for physical literacy development that foundations of many advanced skills are formed. The ultimate objectives at this stage are to learn all fundamental movement skills, build overall motor skills.
Learn 2 Train
At this stage students are ready to begin training using more formalized methods with an emphasis on general sports skills suitable for a range of activities. This is a period of accelerated learning of coordination and fine motor control. Children enjoy practicing, improving skills and begin to understand their own development. The ultimate objective at this stage is to learn overall sport skills.
Middle School
Train 2 Train
As with Learn 2 Train this stage is extremely important and can make the difference when developing athletes. Here, students are ready to consolidate basic sport-specific skills and tactics. The ultimate objectives at this stage are to develop skill training and physical development including speed, strength, aerobic endurance and flexibility.
High School
Train 2 Compete
If elite athlete is the desired objective and a student wishes to participate at college level, high volume and high intensity training should be introduced and maintained throughout each year. The ultimate objectives at this stage are to tailor training to individual event, and specific positions. High levels of competitive, technical and physiological development, as well as a greater understanding of own strengths and limitations are key for success at the elite level.
Active 4 Life
Having followed our program, students will have the knowledge, skills and understanding to lead active, healthy lifestyles. Ultimately some students simply enjoy recreational sport or prefer alternative activities to 'traditional' sports. At this stage we ensure our students understand the variety of ways in which they can remain healthy, try alternative activities and/or pursue other roles and careers in sport. It's all about enjoying physical activity, understanding how to stay involved and remain healthy for years to come.
