About NJHS

The National Junior Honor Society is based upon excellence in five areas: Scholarship, Citizenship, Leadership, Service, and Character. The purpose of NJHS is to create enthusiasm for scholarship, to stimulate a desire to render service, to promote leadership, to develop character, and to encourage citizenship. Members participate in fundraising projects, community service, and involve themselves in the school community to promote our core values. Each year the society chooses a charity that the students champion and for which they fundraise. This culminates in an annual Charity Auction that takes place in April.

Students are invited to apply to join the society once they meet the following requirements: the student must be in grades 6-8, have attended AISK for at least one semester and have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.2. An application form must then be filled out to provide information on their service, leadership and citizenship. The students are then evaluated and voted in by a majority vote from anonymous Faculty Council chosen by the MS/HS Principal. The Chapter Advisor is there to facilitate but does not participate in the voting process. Students then take part in an induction ceremony that occurs at the end of each academic year. Meetings are held weekly throughout the year. The current Chapter Advisor for NJHS is Mrs. Danielle Azan.
